Tea Party FAQs
The tea party movement is grassroots and decentralized. In addition, the media and Liberal Left have attempted to confuse people about the tea party. Listed below are some common questions:
Is the tea party a political party or connected to the Republican Party?
The "tea party movement" is neither a political party or connected to a political party. The movement started with Americans that were upset with the bailouts and out of control spending.
Who is the leader of the tea party? Does Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, etc. represent the tea party?
The tea party movement is decentralized and each tea party is independent. We consider everyone who is a member as a leader of the tea party. We have people that are coordinators on a state and national level that help facilitate communications between groups. Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sarah Palin, etc do not speak for the movement, because the tea party groups are independent and grassroots.
What issues does the tea party work on?
The tea party focuses on issues that are in line with its key values of Fiscal Responsibility, Limited Constitutional Gov't, and Free Markets. We do not focus on social issues such as Gay Rights, Abortion, etc.
